HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY

The Fourth of July commemorates the adoption of the Declaration of Independence and was meant to justify a revolt against the British; July 4,1776, bells rang, fireworks released, and a designated representative came to the town square and read the Declaration of Independence. John Hancock was the only person to actually sign the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776.
The other 55 signers did not sign until Aug 2nd or later. The youngest signer of the Declaration of Independence was 26-year-old Edward Rutledge, oldest was Benjamin Franklin at 70.
Although Independence Day is a legal holiday, it was not declared so until 1941.
"America the Beautiful" was published on July 4, 1895. To see Kate Smith sing "America the Beautiful" GO HERE
