America was built on the desire of the People, also known as Patriots, to separate themselves from the Kingdom of Great Britain, a government that our Founding Fathers said exhibited “absolute tyranny” over the colonial states. In their Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776, the writers stated what constitutes tyranny (cruel and oppressive rule of law) in 29 points of reference.
In their efforts to break away from the rule of Great Britain, patriots fought and paid with their lives in the American Revolution, so that future generations would not suffer from such cruelty. With an intention to create a “decent Respect to the Opinions of Mankind” an agreement was made between man and government in the form of a Constitution.
They agreed on certain truths to be “self-evident” calling them “unalienable Rights” and “among these are Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness.” In the Articles and Sections that ensued in the Constitution, our Founding Fathers developed three branches of governance; the Executive, Judicial and Legislative branches operating to “establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity.”
The first ten amendments to the Constitution (the Bill of Rights) were ratified effective December 15, 1791. These amendments were enacted to ensure individual rights. Tom,I almost forgot to tell you, I was a Fairtax supporter at first, too. Which is my point, really, about garbage in garbage out.
I supported Fairtax before the Fairtax Book came out, I also checked into the specifics.
I was VERY impressed that the experts seemed to agree with Fairtax. Dale Jorgenson of Harvard, for example, is an economist I admire very much. And he was their expert! His research was the very basis of Fairtax. So I was actually looking for a way to work for them -- volunteer or paid. I loved the plan!
But then I found out Dale Jorgenson didn't do any such research. Nor does he support their plan whatsoever. I was puzzled -- Boortz told us, in his book and on the radio, and online, that Jorgenson was essentially their rock, their basic intellectual base. Not only was JOrgenson NOT their guy, he repudiated Fairtax, in his normal nice way.
SO I looked at Fairtax a lot closer. Since email is easy, I emailed other "experts" that Fairtax listed as supporting them. I only found two -- two -- that would defend Fairtax. I did not get responses from everyone, but essentially they told me they had not really looked at it closely.
So I started looking at Fairtax particulars, and asking questions of their spokesmen, namely David Kendall and James Bennett. Kendall is a PhD and Bennett is an attorney, and both are official spokesmen for Fairtax, both support it, and both claim to know it backwards and forwards.
I asked them about some issues I found -- like the odd sentence about taxing city county and state wages, that is in one sentence in Neal Boortz's Fairtax Book. I was sure these experts could clear that up. Surely Fairtax didn't expect all city county and states to pay the federal government taxes on all the wages they paid? That had to be a typo.
Turns out, Fairtax biggest source of revenue is NOT - repeat NOT a tax on personal consumption at all. It's a very large tax on all city county and state expenditures. All city county and states have to send in -- some of it in advance -- money to the federal government.
This just floored me. There has to be some mistake. No, Bennett said, that is right. City county and states have to pay. Kendall said so to, he said "we are just asking city and states to pay"
Well, having ONE sentence in a book, in the back of the book, which does not explain it well to say the least, is not "asking " city county and states. Fairtax has never told city county and states about this. James Bennett, the attorney I mentioned above, is actually in charge of Fairtax government "education" program, as he called it. He admitted he never told them. There was never any communication to city county and states about this. What the HELLO? They have these massive taxes on city county and states -- and they are massive -- without making it clear? They claim Dale Jorgenson proved their great claims -- and he says almost the opposite.
I am tellin you, Fairtax is a hustle. There are goofy hustles around. This is not 1960 anymore, for some reason, "think tanks" which we could at one time depend on (CATO INSTITUTE -HERITAGE FOUNDATION) have been bought off. I don't know by who. But they are not being honest all the time.
